Salsa Vaya 55cm - SOLD -

Postby Dirk » 15 Jun 2020, 3:15pm

Hi, I'm offering for sale my metallic grey Salsa Vaya 55cm frame size.

Spec is as follows:

Ritchey Comp bars, stem & seat post
Shimano Deore front & rear derailleurs
Shimano Deore chainset 48, 36, 26 rings
Campagnolo Centaur carbon shifters
Selle Italia Max Flite saddle
Avid BB7 disc brakes
Shimano LX cassette 11-32 9spd
Mach 1 rims/Deore hubs/32 spoke wheels
Schwalbe Marathon 700 x 35c tyres
SKS mudguards
FSA Orbit XL2 headset
KMC chain
Spa Cycles gel bar tape
Compressionless brake cables
Pedals not included

I built up the bike about four years ago and used it occasionally on the local cycle track, then stored it away in the attic for three years so it's seen very little use. Over the time in storage I 'borrowed' parts off it for other bikes, so I've built it back up to sell with some brand new items such as the chain-set, chain, front & rear derailleurs, tyres. Transmission is a 'Shimergo' setup with a Gtek Shiftmate.
As you can see from the pics, the bike is in a beautiful condition, the only marks are some very small chips through the lacquer on one of the seat-stays which are hard to spot.
I've decided to part with it, as its probably not going to be used again.
Looking for £670. I've had a problem with Carriers previously so would rather not post but arrange collection. Based in Port Talbot.
If interested, i can email more pics of the bike. Thanks

Looks nice but it unfortunately overlaps with bikes i already have so can't justify it. Might be worth saying where you are and if you are willing to post.

Hi, have you checked that the forks on this are not those subject to recall? I have the same model and only found out six months ago about the recall by chance. Luckily I managed to get the forks replaced - not with salsa ones as they're not longer made, but Surly instead.

See here for info: https://salsacycles.com/culture/safety_ ... l%20refund.

Yes, I found out about the recall shortly after buying the frameset. The supplier exchanged the forks for me with no problem. The ones fitted to this frame have the 'newer' modified disc brake mount.

Ah, that's good to hear. I wish I'd been in time to get the proper salsa fork too.

Hi
Bike looks great - I'm looking for a touring bike. Can you send more pictures please?
I live in Hampshire - if we were going to courier, any idea how much it would cost?
thanks!

@Suef -Hi thanks for the reply. If you pm me your email address Ill send 5you what I have. To be honest I'm not to keen on using couriers. My previous experience was not very good, the bike was damaged in transit and I ended up out of pocket.

Hi Dirk. It looks like a fine bike with a great set of components. Is it still for sale? If so, I am interested and although I live in Kent, I could collect if its still available.

Thanks Dirk. Took it out on it's 'maiden voyage' this morning. Glad to have been able to come down and see it first hand with the opportunity to try it out. Collecting it in person was well worth the effort. Its a wonderful bike and a lot of care has gone into building it. Many thanks.
