All the op asked for was advice on which helmet to go for.
Seems the boss was right moving this into the abyss. Amazing.

Partly self fulfilling of course - there is a degree of restraint with posts out of the ghetto, occasionally referencing the abyss.
A shortcut has to be a challenge, otherwise it would just be the way. No situation is so dire that panic cannot make it worse.

But later they clarified it as "to do a couple of rides for charity" which is an awful reason. At least CTC is one charity which isn't forcing helmets like that!

I meant of people participating in charity cycle events with helmet requirements.
