TED Video: Helmets, Cycling, Culture of Fear

Post by mark a. »

Here's an interesting video from one of the TED conferences:

http://video.tedxcopenhagen.dk/video/91 ... e-andersen

It's titled "Why We Shouldn’t Bike with a Helmet" but it's rather more than that. He discusses the growth of the culture of fear and the resulting reduction in cycling numbers.

It's not the perfect video, but it's a good overall summary. It could work well to show work colleagues etc who insist that it will be your fault, and not the driver's, if you die when not wearing a helmet.

nice
A shortcut has to be a challenge, otherwise it would just be the way. No situation is so dire that panic cannot make it worse.
There are two kinds of people in this world: those can extrapolate from incomplete data.
