I'm just resurrecting this thread to say a huge thankyou to everyone who contributed. This year was our first 'official' year under our new 9-year contract (last year was a bit of a look-see on a 1-year contract) and the feedback from all the cyclists has been brilliant. For years I've been moaning about campsites "why don't they provide so-and-so" and the like, and it's nice to see all my moans have been addressed here and seem to fit in with everyone else!

But I'm most proud of a mail we got this week from the tourist office. They've had a report from the Topo guide assessor who cyclecamped the whole Velodyssey 1 (Roscoff to Biarritz - Eurovelo 1)). Obviously it was quite a long report but he singled out Brittany as being the best part and that one campsite on the whole 'Velodyssay' should be held up as an example to all the others on how to cater for cyclists - Gouarec - so fame at last;-) The tourist office has asked if I'd be prepared to visit the other campsites on the route to explain what to offer so hopefully the V1 will be all the better for it!

Well done for the positive report and good luck for the next 9 years.
I've not been down that way for a while, must be about time to do so...

I liked the kitchen chalet, and the socialising marquee to eat in when it was raining as it was when we stayed earlier this year. The one area I did not like was the showers which were well below par, hopefully these are now sorted. Otherwise yes it is how all cycle camping sites should be, good job.

It was lovely to have you with us this year. Yes the Loo block is the Achilles heel - it's 40 years old and all concrete and no matter how you scrub painted concrete it's always going to be a bit cold and horrid - likewise although there's unlimited hot water it takes an age to come through as the tank is 30m from the showers and has a large diameter pipe... Mind you we do supply loo roll which makes up for a lot;-)

Because of this we opened up a section of the even older block (next to the office) and so there's now a smaller shower/toilet/wash room that looks like a refugee from a 1950's school complete with lemon shaped soaps on supports and long 'trough-like' sinks. The big advantage is that it's right next to the hot tank and I've plumbed it with proper taps so they are, without question, the best showers in Brittany.

The good news is that the Council has allocated 100,000 € to completely demolish the interior of the main block and replace it with the modern facilities people expect, but sadly that's not due until the end of next season...
