Half a sleeping bag?
Re: Half a sleeping bag?
Only the top section is filled with down
In my experience a warm core doesn't translate to warm legs / feet. If I suffer from the 5am 'cold awakening' its usually in the legs and feet so would appreciate a decent covering down there as well. Easy enough to stick on / remove and regulate the top end not so bottom end.

Which means if you roll over on your side or stomach -- like most people do when sleeping -- one side or your back will get cold. But perfect if you just sleep on your back all night.

nice length. Alpkit did one for a time that was far too short. But the width is too narrow I think 70cm is not much? only for skinny people I think. since it is only an elephants foot+ you need to wear a warm jacket also? would the 70cm be wide enough even for a skinny person? dont think so

sounds like a clever idea but I tend to mistrust such things, even though it's a decent company.
It is by the by currently available for an extra 20 per cent off the price in that link with a code.

Re: Half a sleeping bag?
It's not an elephant's foot; it's full length, but with no down underneath, between you and the mat.
It will be OK, provided that you use a Downmat or similar, and either lie still all night, or roll over within the bag, rather than rolling with the bag. It looks a bit narrow for turning over inside the bag.
There are a number of similar bags about; some have a sleeve for the mat in the lower part.
I can't see it working for me.

Re: Half a sleeping bag?
I use a quilt and a well insulated mat so know the principle works fine, though the reason I have a quilt is that I could never get comfortable in a bag.

I said +
it doesnt have a hood so not a complete bag
Re: Half a sleeping bag?
It's easier to use a quilt, it leaves a lot more freedom. This looks to me like the worse of both worlds, it won't work for people like me that sleep on the side and turn around often.
It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best,
since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them.
Thus you remember them as they actually are...

Makpak did this decades ago but it didn't catch on. the idea is a good one but people move too much in their sleep and this design is restrictive unless you like sleeping in a coffin type environment.
same as putting your mat inside a bivvy bag.
