Women tend to be shorter and they feel colder. So a shorter but warmer mattras suits them better.

Its the same thickness, warmth and width as the longer version.

Why don't they just market it as a 3/4 mat like they used to. ....I guess that doesn't sell as well.

3/4 mats tend to be shorter, down to about 1.2 m
This is 1.68 vs. 1.83, more of a 9/10 than 3/4

The idea of a 3/4 mat is to save weight by only insulating/cushioning your core. This is designed to insulate/cushion all of someone of a lower average height, and they're playing the numbers by marketing it at women who are, on average, shorter than men.

That there is typically more to "women's kit" these days than it being simply pink or pastel is a Good Thing, but outliers are still not well cared for. My wife is 1.78 and has broad shoulders so tends to end up resorting to "unisex" stuff, but it isn't unisex because the hips are wrong: for jackets she has a choice between not enough width at the top, or not enough at the bottom. And chest pockets don't often take account of bust. Sleeping mats not a problem though, just uses a "regular" T-Rest.

When I checked, only Thermarest and Mountain Equipment seemed to offer women's mats, rather than unisex, in UK shops.

The women's mats are shorter than regular men's/unisex, but longer than the men's/unisex short mats.
Thermarest women's mats are warmer than men's/unisex, with Mountain Equipment there was no difference.
There was no difference in thickness with either brand.

eg Thermarest XLite
Short 119 cm, R=0.56 (SI units), (3.2 US units)
Women's 163 cm, R=0.69 SI, 3.9 US
Regular 183 cm R=0.56

This would be ideal. It was no joke when I wanted to ease my back by sleeping on my front last night. https://www.bravissimo.com/us/products/ ... -sw571pnk/

Otherwise I cope with my neoair.

Apart from price and a slight difference in size and shape.. I have no idea why it should be branded as wimmins...
