Never heard of it before. Is it a new thing? Website looks slightly amateurish and derivative, but seems to return sensible results on a cursory inspection.

Who would leave this typo on their website ?
Natural England Exempted Organisation . . . . . er, what ? why ?
Is this an email harvesting exercise ?

As I understand it...
Usually to operate a campsite, you need to have planning permission.
However, there's an exemption for "approved sites" aka "certificated locations", where the landowner (typically a farmer with a spare field) simply signs up with an organisation that has permission to issue certificates.
The Caravan Club and the Camping & Caravanning Club are the best-known such organisations, and have approved hundreds of these CLs. They are, however, often criticised for being a bit bourgeois, stuffy, and overpriced - membership will cost you around £40 a year.
The Freedom Camping Club appears to be a more down-to-earth upstart that has the same Government permission to issue certificates, but doesn't charge £40 for membership (in fact, it doesn't cost anything) and doesn't have rules about "the appearance of your caravan must not offend public decency" (seriously, I'm not making this up).
It might not be the poshest website in the world but good luck to them!

Thanks for that graham.
That is truly truly ludicrous.
Makes the club seem more interested in recreating up-itself suburbia on wheels rather than a club for folk enjoying the outdoors.
Have been pondering for a while whether to join for cycle touring even though I would really really have to work very hard indeed to get the membership money back from the minimal discounts.
May very well reconsider - not sure I want to go on sites that ban such things created out of joy. It's not a if the owner was planning to squat.
It is particularly ludicrous of course since you can turn up on a bike, possibly self built from motley bits on an old frame, with a tent.

I've used them a few times, all good for me. I even got a discount for turning up naked, Pretty cool I thought.
