CampinGaz adaptor

Post by st599_uk »

Hi all

I have a screw fit stove that I use for camping.

Is it possible to get an adaptor to allow me to use a CamlingGaz push and twist style canister?

Would make gas supply more easy.

These seem to be out of stock everywhere I've looked .

Check to see if this fits your stove

I've read plenty from people saying that both screw and/or clip canisters are widely available but in my experience this isn't the case in many cases it tends to be one or the other . In Southern Spain last year I saw lots of screw fit and very few clip in other places it's been the other way around

I have the edelrid adaptor. Got it from cotswold. Can't think why it may have been discontinued.

The Edelrid adapter is the one you want. It's apparently been discontinued by Edelrid, so it will be hard to find, or eBay.
Try here: https://www.adventurestore.lu/en/produc ... apter.html (check postage).

There are no other screw stove to click canister adapters that I've heard of, but there are some stoves that will take either screw-on or click on canisters. The MSR Superfly and various Primus "Duo" models come to mind.

The second type of adapter is for the aerosol-style canisters that are intended for the briefcase gas hob style stove.
The canisters are intended to be used horizontally, and may feed liquid gas, resulting in a big flare, if not used flat with the correct side up. Some take gas from the valve end of the relevant side, and will be OK upright, but others take gas from the middle, and will flare when used upright.
If your screw-on stove is remote canister (hose) with a preheat loop, flare isn't a problem, but the canisters are frequently butane only, and not too good in cold/cool weather

As I'd been meaning to buy an Edelrid Camping Gaz adaptor but not got around to it your post prompted me. I couldn't find one so I bought these two instead.

It should allow me to use my screw fitting stove with both Camping Gaz and cylinder tyre bottles that have a screw thread.
I have seen adaptors from China on ebay from about £1.70 but the website above suggests these may not have a non-return valve.
Perhaps I've spent a few pounds more than necessary or perhaps I won't be pulling fragments of canister out of my face.

I'll let you know how I get on as I think I've got a Camping Gaz canister at home.

They appear to have the one for puncture cartridges as well, albeit at a mega £31 plus price.
Not sure how they can justify that.
I paid around £15, maybe less.

Just tried one of these with a Camping Gaz canister and an Epigas threaded stove and it worked fine.

It's £16.80 I bought it with an aerosol adapter that will fit Mrs Whoof MSR stove for a total of a little over £25 for the both including postage.

It would appear to be the same adapter: "KOVEA also manufactures this product under the Vaude/Edelrid/Markill brand"

Think i've ordered one! Well they sent a confirmation, thanks for the link. I had been planning on buying the Edeldrid for this summer's trip so this thread and links has been invaluable.

Thanks, just ordered a Mercator Gear PAT adaptor based on these reviews.

Heading to the Netherlands and Germany when the sun comes out - hopefully will get the chance to try it out.

Very quick service from Mercator, arrived two days after ordering. :D

Bit disappointed though, the quoted 71g is wrong, mine is at least 71.5g!
