It might be seen as an entry fee if it were applied to everyone.

I think there was a suggestion it might become that?

Well yes, but that is something different, a different question. Unless everyone was allotted a designated wild spot on entry, which would be odd, to say the least.

nah they think that wild camping means coming face to face at your tent entrance with a vicious man-eating racoon-dog?

What about toilets?

Never had an issue in the lakes. You're never too far from a pub since if you're moving around the lakes you'll sooner or later drop into a valley. Nothing better than a pub visit midday on your journey before heading back into the hills for another night.

I think Scottish Highlands is the only place I've needed to dig a cat hole. I used to carry a coughlans trowel and toilet kit just for that job. Trouble is some places the vegetation is actually very tough to get through so it's some effort to dig deep enough at times. Trowel, lighter and anti-bac gel kept in double bags. I used to keep it in top pocket at one time.

You really can't be squeamish about it. You need to dig hole so you can bury it 6" deep then cover with the turf on the top. Burn the tissues used or pack them out. If you're not going to do this then don't camp out. Urine isn't a problem obviously. You can wee anywhere. Just don't defecate near water sources, straight onto the ground and leave toilet paper. Talking to you outward bound groups, if anyone involved with them are reading this.

Thanks for that.
Good riddance.
This whole mess, and a wonderful ride round bowland the other day, has actually inspired me to consider a more wind resistant tent.
More wild camping.

£20 was too much anyway for no facilities. The origininator had no sense? Maybe a fiver?

A fiver might be acceptable if it went to maintenance of the NP. You can find some commercial sites for that though, and the money didn't all go to the NP.

Zero acceptable in my view. There's a principle involved.
