Having just returned from a week bike/ camp/ touring north of Ullapool, a midge net is essential.

Sure were. 2 nights out of 7 extra bad. Managed 2 nights by the coast where there was a breeze & that was good.

Don't take one anymore. If your wine has a cork, it's too expensive. If the worst comes to the worst, push the cork in using a tent peg. This means you have to drink the whole bottle. Oh dear.

When camping, I make "cowboy coffee". No special equipment needed and none of the bitterness often associated with ground coffee.

Just back from a tour where advertising must have got to me.
I took coffee bags! All I can say to people is don’t. Probably a smidge better than instant.
I’ll be back to a filter paper sitting over the top of the mug unless PaulaT can tempt me with cowboy Coffee. What’s your method?

I use a method I found on YouTube where you

1) add the grounds to warm water
2) bring to the biol for about a minute
3) run a bit of cold water into the pot along the sides. This is supposed to make the grounds sink to the bottom and does seem to work

A full size bath towel type thing or do you really mean a Tea towel?
A big one would be rather pricey?

I carry 2 small cotton towels -- a dark colour to dry better in the sun is a good idea. Don't know how a linen towel would feel on the skin or how well it will dry me but willing to try one too as they would pack down small.

I have always found that a tent is quite useful.

I would say wet-wipes but for the realisation that they are actually plastic and do not readily bio-degrade. I s'pose the dock-leaf is nature's ww, however they're not always easy to hand and there is something very comforting about knowing that base-level cleanliness is only as far as that compact little packet in the pannier...
I'll add 'water-bottle' instead.
