My first tour for years, camping by the beach on Tiree, and to top it all later on I saw an otter!

Hope you don't mind a couple of images...

Yes, you're certainly making me yearn to go back to the far north!

It really was a great spot. I simply love the Scottish islands. Coll and Tiree really are good for a few days away with the bike (the ferry round trip only costs around £20), they are actually very different places despite being next door to each other, but both very good and very easy to get around by bike.

Probably going to risk even more hate ;-) by saying I'm planning on heading up to the Outer Hebrides/Skye and Ardnamurchan in May this year, fingers crossed for good weather.

PS Thanks all for the inspiration to load up the bike again...

Brittany, 2009, I think - tend to go there every odd year to coincide with the excellent Sea Shanty festival at Paimpol, although this pic was taken further west near the so-called Abers...

This is the cheap Colman tent I’ve been using for about three years now, it only cost £25 and has been faultless on a few touring trips now.
I normally put the tent in one of the rear panniers and tape the pole to the bikes frame.

The photo’s where taken last weekend when my daughter and I rode the Devon C2C from Plymouth to Woolacombe.
We camped near Meldon Reservoir on the edge of Dartmoor the first night and at a site on the coast the night after.

above tighnabruich looking down on bute. In the second picture I am snoring in the orange tent some time after we were supposed to depart , the other tent all packed up on the bike . We had to keep running about when packing up because of the midges, which thickly covered the mesh windows of my tent .

the orange one is my Aztec ligero . I sometimes wish it were green.
