Is there a bike under camouflage netting in that pic?

What's the thinking behind that very high up and "one side shelter" only - something to do with prevailing wind/rain?

There's a hammock hidden under the tarp, a lot better centred than the groundsheet. It was high enough to still clear the stuff on the ground when I added my weight to it.

I'm using the OEX Phoxx1 - great for the price, weighs about 1kg and fits nicely in my panniers.

I'm sure I'll update at some point, but for now, it's fine.

That looked a lot of tent for 1kg and I could do with something for out and back rides, so I just googled it. What a bargain! £45 from Go Outdoors but unfortunately the weight is listed as 1.6 kg. (I know 600g isn't a lot, but I already have a good 2kg tent and buying another to save 400g isn't worth it...)

Wow, that's a nice price for a nice-looking tent, and the same weight as my sleeping mat. I was rather tempted, but a quick DDG tells me it's a bit small for someone my height ... probably just as well as I'm not really looking for a tent at the mo.

I have the Gelert Solo which is, I believe, the same tent . I stopped using it last year because as I get older I need to be able to sit up inside which wasn't quite possible in the Solo.

Hi,
Normally sitting up tents go from 1.5 kgs.
One kg tents are somewhat restrictive in height.
I guess that if they were not then they would blow down easy.
0.7 high is a crawling around tent ideal for quick stop and leave again in the morning.

my 1kg tent has a full 90cm height, afaic the minimum for me to avoid head on roof.

For Some Values of "Normally".

It's entirely possible to get sitting height in a 1 Kg solo tent, e.g. The Terra Nova Laser Comp is 1 Kg all in. It won't "blow down easily" either, assuming it's been pitched with a bit of Clue. There are some aspects of its design I'm not personally too keen on, but lack of sitting height isn't one of them.
