CUK trademark confusion with Tour of Cambridgeshire/Ayrshire race organiser

Notable for the appearance of a new square logo, backing of a UCI race (including helmet-forcing) and the relatively high 12.5mph minimum average speed required even for the mellow ride. Anyone seen anything else about it?
How is this inclusive? Does it comply with CUK policies (notably on disability and helmets) or have they been changed?
(subject edited to reflect later discussion - body unmodified except to break the link - take the spaces out if you want to view the site)

Is it the rectangular logo you refer to?

I would be very surprised if CTC had anything to do with the event - the We Are Cycling UK on the site logo is probably just tongue in cheek . . . or was the tagline established before CTC adopted it?

As above. Logo not in the Cycling UK "branding" style. Also a search for "Tour of Cambridgeshire" on Cycling UK website returns no results.

Someone from NoroVirus cycling tried to register an account here. The Username was their brand name.
I anticipated an attempt to use this forum to advertise their business.

It does not seem to appear on the 2016 event site.
This CUK logo (and yes, I should have written rectangular) seems to be on the 2017 event site but less prominent. If it's nothing to do with CUK, I'm surprised they've not told the organisers to stop misleading people and by now published something condemning the fraud.

I would prefer that ******* don't get any sort of mention on this forum.
Sooner or later I would like to move this topic out of public view.
I hope that this is not unacceptable to above posters ?

Re: CUK support of Tour of Cambridgeshire race
This is going right over my head. I've looked at the link in the OP a couple of times - indeed it's had more hits than would otherwise have been the case - but I can't see any connection with CyclingUK at all. Can some kind person enlighten me?

Edit:
I see now: it says We are cyclingUK

What's the real issue here? is it ..
1 Promoting an event that insists on helmets
2 Promoting an event with a minimum speed
3 The use of the words "we are cycling uk"
4 Promoting a business that organises events
. . . the OP appears to suggest that it's #1 as his primary issue - and then a sub-point #3 about "passing off" the event as CTC related.
To me it's fair game to promote ANY cycling events* on this, hopefully democratic, forum - there are all sorts of cyclists from many disciplines. If cycling is promoted, isn't that good?

Just Google CUK and see what you get! Anything but a reference to the 'thing' they created.

Why? If you do that, it's going to look even more like CUK support this event.

I've been pretty clear that the CUK support of this event was my primary issue, as denoted by both the topic title and forum selected. Now some say that there is no such support, but then it becomes a different concern, #3

It's rather debatable whether cycling is promoted by UCI events. As recently posted in another topic www.sheldonbrown.com/thons.html

The increase in cycling in the UK has been linked to the Beijing effect and the successes of Hoy, Pendleton and others on the track as well as the road-racing results from Wiggins, Froome etc. - that seems to be a good thing to me. If there events that encourage cycling, who cares how and by whom they are organised? - although I draw the line at the commercially based "pseudo-charity" events.

I disagree with that interpretation and the evidence for it is very weak, but, as I wrote, it's debatable.
robgul wrote:If there events that encourage cycling, who cares how and by whom they are organised?
Few will, but take care not to assume that all events encourage cycling. Telling people they must do 12.5mph and comply with UCI rules to do a "mellow" ride doesn't seem like encouraging cycling and I was disappointed to see CUK's name on it.

Re: CUK support of Tour of Cambridgeshire race
Seriously, who would have thought that Cycling UK spent all that time effort and money on the branding, then used something completely different?
