Future of CUK - survey

I'm on question one of the survey sent in today's email and already there is a question without the answer I need:

In response to various types of bike the options are:

1) Never had one; never will
2) Never had one but might have one in the future
3) Have one but not in working order / can’t be ridden
4) Have one
5) Don’t know what this is

How about "Had one previously but don't have it any more"? As in children's bike and touring bike in my case...

The survey could have been better. Feel free to tell National Office, they do not routinely monitor the forum boards.

In the meantime either pick a number from 1-5, put that as your answer and carry on or abandon the survey. It's up to you.

Yep. A notable omission. I went for 3) can't be ridden as I no longer have it!

Wow; I make a point of filling in surveys so I've seen lots of naff ones and this ranks up there with the worst.

Poorly worded and/or unintelligible questions, unavailable options among the answers etc. etc.

Would it not have been simpler to send an email to all CTC members and ask - "which of these three 'mission statements/visions' (yuk- hate both of these terms) do you like best and/or how would you re-phrase/change them".

Instead a poor survey that consumed £???? of my hard earned membership fee.

Is anyone at Cycling UK prepared to say how much this has cost??

I doubt it cost much, might have been better to have spent a bit more and improved it.
Also might someone explain to HQ why the club is no longer called the Bicycle Touring Club and hasn't been since 1883. With the Chairman a tricyclist it seems an odd omission from several questions.

There should always be an option, 'none of the above'

I've no idea, could have been a random/selected subset of the membership, could be down to your own personal mailing preferences.

Deleted my email so I can't post a link.

At least they are asking about changes now. Would have been nice before killing CTC without member consultation.

Having done the survey I don't think this is aimed at real keen enthusiasts it needs to be sent to people who don't cycle much

Who is paying for this survey? It must be costing money and resources that could be spent on other things and with such shortcomings members should be asking if their limited funds and resources are being well spent?

What is the collected information being used for? One assumes the survey must have a purpose and one assumes that the results will be used for form policy and make decisions about expenditure. But with shortcomings the results will be unreliable so I assume members would have concerns about this aspect.
