Will it be possible to provide a dedicated app for the forum?
On a phone, opening a web browser and logging into the forum is to much to make it a regular read.

Click the "remember me" checkbox on the login page and you don't need to login every time.
There are apps which can use phpbb forums like this but they're all worse than a simple browser.

Tapatalk seems to be a favourite although I also prefer a browser, even on a smart phone. YMMV.

On the webpage menu there should be an item 'add to home page'.
Click this and a link will appear on your home page which can be used as an app.
