Salary: PAYE salary £85,000-£90,000 pro rata OR day rate of £500-600

Looks odd, 5 days at £600 = £3k per week, £150k per year?

Why is that?

Assuming they work a five day week at £500-£600 per day, £2.5 -£3k per week,
It looks to be higher than the £85-£90k pro rate salary advertised.
Not sure how they work out a daily rate, including the £85 to 90k pro rate rate and no mention of the daily rate may be more cost effective? My guess would be about £400 daily rate would be about right to match up with the £85-90k range, e.g. 400 x 5 =£2k week.

Pro rate implies a part time role. Remember too that the day rate contains no benefits at all. £5-600/day's pretty much the sort of rate you'd expect, I think.

The 85 to 90k is PAYE, an employee where the employer pays NI, pension contributions, sick pay and holiday pay, the day rate will be for a contractor who will have to pay his or her own tax, ni, pension, sick pay and holiday pay. The cost to Cycling UK will be similar which ever way it goes.

Applications closed already, what a shame.
is this the way it normally works when a CEO goes? Or does the departing one usually stay on till a full replacement is found?
I don't know how these things go, it just seems inefficient and an interim appointment wasteful.

Unusual in my experience. If a CEO goes and wants to take up another appointment quickly they either work notice or are allowed to leave sooner, especially where there might be a conflict of interest. Interim appointment is common as the search for a new person can take months. Normally an interim appointment is made from within an organisation and I’ve not seen posts advertised often. It is especially unusual to use an agency for an interim appointment.

An agency, how much does that cost?

Generally a percentage of the first year's salary. I don't know what percentage. Probably quite high, perhaps 10%. Which is possibly why most interims are internally recruited.

Typically rather higher, especially as this agency's pre-screening & shortlisting, not just finding candidates.

Costs depend on what a recruitment agency does. Can range from just posting adverts to full on head hunting. The latter comes in at around £20k+ for finding a suitable long list. Agencies specialise in certain sectors and maintain a database of potentially appropriate candidates. They then will proactively approach people who meet criteria supplied and pass on recommendations. I’m not saying they will be doing all this for this interim post. Normally the client does the shortlisting.

It's not that unusual - that's why there's a whole industry in providing interim CEOs and senior managers out there, with people who do it as a career. Salaries are quoted pro-rata because an interim won't necessarily be around for a whole year.

Yes it does cost and that fact was considered. I can't go into detail but I can say that it wasn't a decision that was taken lightly.

This is what happens when a club owned and run by it's members is turned into a so called "charity" and run as a business and it's members become donors.

What happens? You get professional leadership in place? Why is that a bad thing?
