Someone who loves the CTC as much as my husband did before KM came on the scene.

Someone with a cool head who can minimise KM's damage without getting us into legal bother with the Charity Commissioners or starting a civil war. Simon L12345678... or Reg.?

I'd suggest that the principal requirement would be for somebody with a lot of experience of running a small- to medium- sized charity. I'm thinking of someone with a good knowledge of charity law (to sort out things like completing the change to a charity in England and Wales as well as Scotland and to know what a charity is allowed to do.) The remaining bits and pieces hardly need a FTSE 100 chief executive and could be delegated to a couple of decent managers. I suspect that most of the membership services stuff could be contracted out to Centrico or similar, on the basis of the best bid. There would have to be some ring-fence protection for the really important bits of the CTC but the Technical Assistance is the only one I can think of, off the top of my head.

I'd hope that the charity expert was one who had the charity ethos at heart, ie altruism, rather than one of the people who just sees a charity as an organisation without the costraints of shareholders or members.

No matter what type of person eventually gets the job, it will have to be somebody who is both available and wants the job. I suppose it would be nice if they knew how to ride a bike.

I must decline the kind invitation - I've just extended my NHS contract :D I've got £20+ billion of contracting to oversee... including that of the CTC Chairman's PCT.

Reg, I think you'll find he's retired from the NHS ... I'm sure he said he had, at our Weds club lunch last week (... and he seemed to be hogging the wine :D )
