As I am naturally tight by nature, or is that just poor and living responsibly within my means, I will not be renewing my membership this week but taking out a new membership.

If I renew, I get membership for one day less* and I get to pay the higher October rate in September.
That is how they treat customer loyalty.

Though, I will miss out on my cute little lapel badge after 25 years of membership.

If I didnt ride so much, I could just wait for a little while and that phone call offering me 15 months membership for the price of 12 months membership if I rejoin.

* I suppose by slicing a day like that they get paid one bonus membership rate for every 365 members.

Are those little badges still available?

...and if so why didn't I get one?

They certainly were in January 2012.

I don't know.

Edit:

I've just had a trawl around the website and found this: http://www.ctc.org.uk/about-ctc/awards-honours

■For 10 years membership you receive a Presidential letter.
■For 25 years membership you recieve a Presidential letter, Certificate and Badge.
■For 50 years membership you receive a Presidential letter, Certificate and Badge.
■For 75 years membership you receive a Presidential letter, Certificate, Badge and Personal Gift.

The current scheme started in 2003, I don't know what arrangements were in place if you passed these milestones before then, I certainly had no 10 year reward.

I don't know who runs the membership department but I do know they appear totally incompetent. My wife received her renewal early in September and as we joined at the same time I was expecting mine. It didn't arrive so I phoned up and was told it had been sent but another would be sent. Still didn't arrive so at the time of renewal 1st Oct I phoned again asking where it was and told again another would be sent. I did renew online but as of today I still do not have a membership card.

I think the new Chief Exec need to get his finger out and sort out this membership fiasco. Oh and please send me my membership card.

I have just noticed that my membership card says it is valid from XX /09/12 until XX/09/12.

Pretty short membership that is.

Funny - mine doesn't have a "valid from" date, only "valid until" & "Joined"! :?

Having renewed my membership almost a month ago, why do I keep getting messages with my Cycle Clips telling me I need to renew?

'Cos they wasted all their money on the new web-site, rather than using it to sort out the membership system?

Don't forget that any issues with the membership system are 'purely anecdotal' according to the Chair and National Office...

For many months I've been receiving two copies of Cycleclips, to different email addresses.

One always says my membership is about to expire in 5 days.
The other doesn't.

Whatever they are doing, it doesn't work.

New card with correct date arrived this morning, without me ever contacting them to say the old one was wrong.

Suffering from a bit of déjà vu this morning. Having received my 25 year certificate and badge with last year's renewal I've now received another certificate and two more badges.

Disappointingly these are not for 26 years membership, but 25 again.

My membership card says I've been a member for 26 years, the certificates now add up to 50 and the badges make 75.

Based on my current age and evidence of 151 years of completed membership, I can claim over £170 if I take up life membership on renewal;
excellent value  .
