CTC Insurance to cover french sportif - expensive !

Post by Mr.M »

So I have been looking around for insurance........... in about 5-6 weeks I should be riding the Grand Fondo La Marmotte in France. I phoned the CTC company that cover sportive events and was quoted £90 odd squid for this one off event or £140 for a year cover, someone please tell me this is correct for it seems a bit steep to me. I looked at easyjet travel insurance and they quote £18 for the week, not sure if this would cover the event or just a cycling holiday..... or nothing at all.
Advice please, thanks.

Holidaysafe (activity specialists) quoted me about £30 for Ironman Zurich but then my BTF licence takes care of 3rd party liability and emergency medical cover so they're not really liable for much else are they? Doesn't your race entry provide some minimum cover too? I've used Holidaysafe before because they will cover all sorts of "extreme" activities. Never had to claim though but they were reccomended by Which? a few years ago.
