However since I've bought something using my discount code I now automatically get the discount applied as a 'platinum customer', even by going straight to the Wiggle site.

I think you'll find that everyone gets the same price at Wiggle. Basic qualification is no more than having a credit/debit card or Paypal to pay for stuff.

I've just looked at some articles as : just me or as a CTC member or as a BC member .. and the deals are all the same.

( ... and before anyone asks, I deleted the Wiggle cookies and refreshed the browser so they hadn't got my "track record" of website visits to hand ... and apply other data ... that's how Ryanair and Travelodge, in different contexts, use visit data to ramp up prices)

It depends on the item you're buying. The 12% is only off RRP so if the item is already 'reduced' by that you won't see any saving.

But I recently bought some tyres which were advertised as 10% off. My BC code brought the price down a couple of quid

I doubt they're being that devious, but as well as deleting cookies, change your Internet (IP) address and browser fingerprint if you don't want to be tracked.

There is no doubt that Travelodge uses the cookie technique - trying booking a room and then a second one one at the same hotel/date ... second price will be higher. Delete the cookies after the first booking, go back and make the second one ... same price as first one. Likewise, booking two separate out and back tickets with Ryanair gets a better deal if you delete the cookies between each transaction (although I'd rather walk than use Ryanair  )

The IP address thing is dealt with here .... I have the router (BT Business Broadband) on a time switch so it goes off at about 0100 and comes back on (with a new dynamic IP address) at 0530 ... partly for a minute saving on electricity and partly for a fresh IP address each day.

Back to the topic .... I'm ordering something from Wiggle today ... I'll test the pricing theory.

UPDATE : Checked the items at Wiggle - all options gave the same prices ... but I ended up placing an order at Chain Reaction as price was about 10% less . . . (that's on about £90 worth)
