I renewed today but nearly held back. I am also a member of BC as they offer personal injury insurance on top of the usual 3rd party (you pay a bit more)
Just something I think CTC should also offer on top of their 3rd party cover

Re: Insurance
Bear in mind that if you are ever in the position where you are covered by two policies, the insurers will only pay out in proportion. That's obviously fair enough, in that you can only hope to recover your loss but it can work against you. I had an attempt burglary where a large double-glazed window was broken. As a freebie "benefit" of my mortgage, I had emergency repair cover for the boarding up. Both policies involved an excess and the contents cover company wouldn't waive that, even though they had been saved the cost of part of the claim. I changed my contents insurer at the next renewal but I can't imagine anybody was remotely bothered. I could also imagine a certain amount of wrangling and foot dragging if it was a big claim (my window was only a few hundred quid in total.)
Re: Insurance
I think there's some clause or another that states that you can't insure the same thing twice.
There's also something about car insurance being invalid when your car is on your insured property. Your car then comes into the "contents" part of your home insurance. ie, it cannot be insured by BOTH your home insurance and your car insurance at the same time.
I could be wrong though, but I could swear I read it somewhere.

Re: Insurance
I had this problem many years ago. The house was broken into while I was at work (using bike). The car was in the garage locked. Both sets of car keys amongst other things were stolen and the car opened but then left locked. Neither the car insurance nor the household insurer would pay for the new locks on the car.
