Ultra distance races

Post by hondated »

Sadly only since Mike Halls sad death only ever being aware of RAM I have been fascinated enough to find out more about these races. The bikes routes riders equipment etc and races.Even though it's something I would never take part in due mainly to age.
So that said I understand a race is going to take place in the UK but I don't know where so does anyone know on here where and when it is !. Thanks

There is the CTT 24 hour timetrial in July https://www.cyclingtimetrials.org.uk/race-details/15599 There's a MTB 24 hour event http://www.mountain-mayhem.com/ Of course there are place to place record attempts such as LEJoG, but these tend not to be publicised http://www.rra.org.uk/ Other than that I have read (possibly on this forum) that a round the coast (I think) ride is being held. The reason I remember this is because the organiser calls it a race which it cannot be because of the legal requirements of route approval etc.

This might be the one you're thinking of:

It's all gone a bit quiet since the initial burst of interest, so we'll see what happens.

If you have an interest in ultra distance cycling /racing there's always some good articles in 'Arrivee ' magazine ( The club mag of Audex uk ) only this month theres a good report on the Transcontinental Race ( 3,900km , with 46,000m of climbing through europe ) a race Mike Hall organised . Though you have to be a member of Audex uk to get the mag :D
