skill games such as snooker, darts, golf etc have all had scandals with competitors using drugs like beta blockers. Amazingly I think pro golfers are now tested to see that they have not been taking steroids, too.

No he doesn't, on the one hand he says that you shouldn't do things you wouldn't in front of your mother and then upholds the decision by the commisaires not to DQ all the riders cheating (who were riding off the cobbles), something they wouldn't do in front of their mothers as it's unethical, or some BS like that
If you tell the riders that these are the rules and they will be enforced without any exceptions then people won't do it so blatently, some will chance their arm but if those in charge do as they should according to their rules then it will be the odd one or two.
This is just like the state of the roads and driving/cycling behaviour.

If a rule is not broken then it's not cheating, riding off the cobbles is cheating, there is a specific rule and just like the police when they defend some cheating (poor/dangerous driving) but go OTT when other actions that aren't breaking the rules are somehow deemed to be cheating on a random/massively subjective 'ethics' scale. What utter nonsense!

So according to Froome's twiter response to this 'news' it's fake news/**** stirring/clickbait from a French newspaper, it's gone to a full UCI hearing according to LeMonde, nothing to do with CAS (yet).

Only the beginning of the original article is available, the rest being behind Le Monde's paywall, so I can't say what's what. The bit that's available simply complains that the procedure started by the UCI is taking so long. The general tone is sympathetic to Froome.

According to other forums, it's a purely procedural step, completely expected and not really news, while Velonews has misunderstood and overegged things.

For the benefit of those new fans who don't remember Lance, Velonews is an American publication that rubbished Landis and generally defended Lance, but their archive no longer goes back far enough to cover the early allegations. It's a good site with lots of news, but they blew their impartiality on doping long ago and it feels like they would love one of the British winners to be banned and stripped of wins, rather than merely accused of TUE gaming.

This whole debacle should have been settled before Le Tour. No riders have been paid from the Vuelta yet because of it. SKY can no doubt ride it but it must be hurting cash flow for some.

Did Hinault ride clean? I kind of assume that everyone from Coppi to Armstrong were at it in some form or other, with a few cleanish competitors coming in after that.
