Back then the Tour winner shared his winnings with his domestiques, then made much more in the criteria. Hard work, lots of driving, -1

Not sure how it is now, does money play a significant role in cycle sport?

GT's spoken accent is not obviously Welsh, it has articulation of Manchester accent,
along with much nondescript English... [perhaps his Television interview voice?] :D

I'm still trying to figure out how we got from Monaco to his accent :?

GTs accent is pure middle class Cardiff.

I dont have a problem with that, though some seem to have a problem with Monaco.
Where they expect a pro cyclist who's racing is mainly in continental europe to base themselves I can't figure out.

Plus One for Welsh accents, even middle-class ones!
Owain Doull of team ski speaks Welsh, saw a film of him and GT visiting the kiddies at Maindy Flyers, hoping to meet him at the Eisteddfod this week

Hi,
CB talks of youth training at European games in Scotland on tv yesterday.
Youth training, I remember just trying to survive in my youth.

Some talk of grammar schools and many are selective.................

But some talk of poorer pupils getting places FIRST?................but thats next year..................
There is a gulf opening up which has probably been there for years, made worse today whom use actual non adults to promote what is today a business, children being used as pawns.
How the other half live.

Just watched the ITV highlights from the final stage and realised Chris Boardman is stepping down from the ITV coverage, his twitter post suggests is to spend more time doing other things, in particular here in Greater Manchester where he's 'Cycling and Walking Commissioner'

Hi,
24 years as an itv4 presenter on the tour I believe.

24 years is a good innings but I wonder if it is a spat between him and ITV. Last year or the year before that I think he was able to use the ITV4 coverage as a platform for cycle advocacy in urban areas. This year I thought his (mostly excellent) little pieces were fewer and further between (Ned got as much airtime, didn't he?) and when sat with Gary Imlach he looked more deadpan than ever and seemed fairly unexcited about the whole thing. I wonder if they will get David Millar to sit with Gary Imlach and get someone else to do the commentary?
I also wonder if the 'competition' will feature boardman bikes as prizes, too.

cheers

Hi,
Not sure, maybe he thinks do other things while he can.
Millar (dave) gets better with hi racing knowledge.
Just like to see more technical stuff and maybe introduce daily the riders.

yeah, the post tour crits are the WWF of cycling; purely for entertainment, not really serious races.
