Hi,
We all wish Froome good luck and speedy recovery.
It could of been much worse for sure.
They talk of broken bones, which is always headline grabbing fortunately no internal damage that we know of.
From experience of waking up in intensive care several days after an accident then spending two weeks there to be ejected for a more serious case in to a windowless store room next door, everyday after loosing red blood cell count, they had probably given up on things to try next.
Left hospital minus one third body weight, two months later.
The mind suffers sometimes permantly and I am still paying nearly forty years later and several corrective operations too, I have to wait until my limb is threatened until i receive any more help.
Al that from s cracked rib.

Froome has we hope much support and probably the only stumbling block will be holding him back.

I heard that he had a cracked neck vertebrae, so as broken necks go it isn't that bad, but any such injury is bad enough I suppose. He lost 'two litres of blood, more or less' according to the doctors. That is quite a lot. They are optimistic about complete recovery, but he's expected to be in hospital for six weeks and out for about six months.

I saw some footage of him putting his jacket on, 'no hands' and the bike looked pretty unstable to me; if it was the wind, it was worse than it looked, it looked more like the steering geometry wasn't quite right or the headset was binding or something. But then the whole steered assy is probably featherweight and has a large area ahead of the steering axis, so will catch the wind quite badly.

INEOS produce plastic .... is that bad?
Buckets and water containers for subsistence villages in Africa ?
Plastic piping ... rather have copper or lead ?
Shall we return to the use of metal instruments in surgery .... and watch the death toll from infection mushroom ?

Do we stop with the " Plastic Bad " approach and make sure we only target the single use plastic markets ?
Non of which are markets that INEOS support .... they are a raw material provider not a producer of single use plastic components.
Also ... so much of the plastic on the beach is thrown there by consumers not raw material providers ..... or even producers.

Use plastic, re-usable plastic, encourage companies like INEOS to support the recycling market and lets not let old airfields in Lincolnshire become repositories for millions of tonnes of plastic waste that no one wants ...

As for fracking .... if your happy buying your gas from Putin or those Countries, amazing human rights advocates, in the middle east ... then fair enough .....

GAS .. If we cant produce it then lets stop using it ..now !

Inspiring I thought that a Kenyan beats all the white people, the route in Wien Austria was specially resurfaced, much of it is shaded, the temperature was only 9° C

He had lots of pacers, just like cyclists do, is that cheating?
Did the person with the starting pistol shout 'frack orf' to motivate the runners?

What does ineos do besides fracking? Maybe it does some good things too

Not sure that plastic waste is such a problem, a lot of it can be burned to produce energy, but what is left after combustion?

Yes in that an hour record set with pacers is not valid . Cycling doesn't really target times, it's just about who wins. Whether they went slower or faster than last year in the TdF is not of interest.

Whereas athletics is more to do with absolute times, so the integrity of those times is important. Obviously this time has none, since they made up their rules for the purpose of the event.

I wonder if the IAAF should establish an "Athletes Record" for the marathon, like the Hour Record.

That can happen and the grapevine had it that certain persons used it to their advantage.
You can certainly feel the extra pull when a large (lorry) vehicle passes.
Obviously though this can't happen on closed TT curcuits.
