Marginal Gains, the next?
Re: Marginal Gains, the next?
I'd love to see a day by day chart of calorie expenditure on a grand tour, along with a total for the three weeks. If the research is to be believed, there may be huge disparities.

I wonder if they do adjust diet according to the previous day, or the next. Although, it may just come down to how many calories the body can actually absorb and process before the start of the next stage.

One top footballer rests and sleeps as much as possible, instead of going out to have fun after lunch he takes a nap. Seems simple and effective, makes sense
One wonders how much team sly members sleep, how much them may listen to their bodies concerning rest, food, drink

Marcus,
Your Drillum comment is old news. Try and find some period shots of Alf Engers, something of a time trial legend in his day.
I have never seen one of his bikes but a mate of mind who has reckons that the brakes were only there to satisfy legal requirements, they were so comprehensively drilled they would have probably folded up if applied in real anger.

At 5' 10' and 9 and half stone, I have often wondered if I could win the TDF... do they allow bikes with hub gears, mind?
