It's the same the whole world over

Look at all the TDF Cavendish has ridden in.Even in his prime.Anthony.R.Brown wrote: ↑1 Jul 2021, 5:26pmSo your expecting Cavendish to lose by 4 or 5 hours over three weeks ? and if he shaved it would make no difference ? in the Time trials he has done ? or will do ?Maillot Rouge wrote: ↑1 Jul 2021, 5:18pmI think this is actually a spoof thread.
Unless the OP thinks being clean shaven can shave 4 or 5 hours off Cavendish’s overall time over three weeks?
Look how far behind the winner he was.
You either don’t understand racing or this is a troll post.
He is currently in 147th place 27 minutes behind the yellow jersey and we’re only on stage 6!
Once in the mountains he could lose 20+ minutes a day easily.

It's not a problem for air to flow through whiskers! what you don't want is a mass of hair that traps the air from flowing, like we are seeing with some of the Pro riders next they will stop shaving their legs as well etc. and we will end up with apes on bikes!Jdsk wrote: ↑1 Jul 2021, 6:08pmJonathanMike Sales wrote: ↑1 Jul 2021, 5:40pmDon't cheetahs have whiskers, like other cats?Anthony.R.Brown wrote: ↑1 Jul 2021, 5:38pm We only have to look at Nature to get the answer! the fastest animals regarding less Drag are the Cheetah with micro short hair, and the Dolphin with no hair!

The photograph of the cheetah doesn't only show whiskers. The animal is covered in hair and the rim lighting shows how it sticks up all over the place.
I have no idea how this can be used as evidence that a beard necessarily increases drag.

But it would not be a problem if he wore a Skin suit ? which would be at least another 5mph
Re: Why do so many Pro Racing Cyclists now have Beards ?
Think it would have to wear a cat suit

AND....Why do so many older men grow beards??
Blokes go through their whole lives clean shaven. THEN hit (say) sixty and they just HAVE to grow a drippy goatee/full set/designer stubble/utter mess or whatever on their chops. Could someone who has done this please reply and explain. Ta.
Caveat. I'm sixty three, clean shaven and always will be.

I feel no need to explain further.
It is, after all, the natural state of the adult male, so what needs explanation is shaving.

Were you clean shaven most of your adult life then, when you hit your later years, feel compelled to grow facial hair - like so many older men?
It was the 'only growing it when you got older' that was my point.
