Lachlan Morton - Alttour
The Alt Tour
While the official Tour de France riders ride one stage each day then get taken to the start of the next stage, sleep in hotels & are fully supported, one of the EF pro riders is doing it a little differently.
Lachlan Morton started stage one an hour after the official start & is riding each stage, plus riding between stages, unsupported with the aim of trying to reach the finish in Paris before the peleton does.
He is raising money for World Bicycle Relief in the process. While the peleton are resting up having completed stage 7, Lachlan is currently part way through stage 9. So far he has raised over £179,000 to provide bicycles for young people so that they can access education.

Re: The Alt Tour
This is very cool!
(Lachlan has ridden a number of ultra and/or gravel races with the "normal" people. Won some, lost some! He's shown respect for event he's ridden in, a top chap. )

Been following this too and hope he does get to Paris before the peleton in 11 days time but think the last transfer to Paris for the peleton will be his downfall.
Re: The Alt Tour
There was a short segment on this on today's ITV4 Tour de France highlights, 17 minutes in immediately after the break.

Lachlan Morton - Alttour
Hi,
Saw this on the highlights in the Tour de France on Thursday evening.
I thought he looked familiar as he did the GB Duro, which he came first, Many other feats to his name of course and still a pro rider?
He is currently cycling the whole of the Tour de France route plus the bits in between solo self supporting.
He is sponsored by EF.
He also holds the record for Everesting

Re: Lachlan Morton - Alttour
Looks like he's heading to stage 19, so other than a small detour for the stage 20 time trial, he just has a long long ride towards Paris, he still has 8 days left though I'm not sure how much he could do next Sunday if the race catches him.
Re: Lachlan Morton - Alttour
He's now on the finishing circuit, although not moving - I guess he's having a coffee on the Champs Elysees.
