KEEP the CTC bit.

Post by Andy Short »

I object most strongly to an 'unpolled' name change.

At very least 'we' could keep the CTC winged wheel logo and the CTC 'brand'.

British Aerospace became BAESYSTEMS, what does the BAE bit stand for? Nothing. It simply reminds people of the origins of the company.

We had GWR FM radio station, what did the GWR stand for? Nothing, certainly not Great Western Radio.

So I will shut up moaning about the re-naming only if the winged wheel and/or 'CTC' remain on proud display in the magazine and on general communications, etc..

I will continue to refer to my membership of the CTC. If people ask, I will say it is 'Cycling UK', that evolved from the Cyclists Touring Club.
If people don't Ask, I won't mention the connection and they will be none the wiser, to the clubs detriment.

Sorry, but that's my deal.

Hi There, Well, Paul Tuohy very kindly sent me an e:mail, not unique I think?
But I gave him the courtesy of a reply. It boomeranged! "Not Recognized"!?
In my reply I asked if I could get a rebate on portions of my 5 year membership if I resign in disgust? I won't hold my breath. TTFN MM

Do hold your breath - I got an immediate refund of 8/12 of my annual fee when I cancelled membership, no questions asked.

Hi Robgul :) :) , Glad you got the dosh, but seem to recall that others have not been so fortunate?
I have subsequently e:mailed the membership department for clarification!
May establish a new world record for holding one's breath?

Have to say before I requested a refund I had hunt round on the CTC website for membership Ts&Cs re payment etc to be ready for any rebuffs. I couldn't find anything that related to payments/refunds/cancellations . . . keep the pressure on.
