What appears to be happening is that a limited number of individuals have wanted to set up a powerful lobby group for UK Cyclists.
To achieve that they have targetted the CTC. In taking over the CTC membership they now have access to thousands of members. A lobby group at a stroke.
It seems to me that that is the future. Nothing to do with cycling outside the UK, nothing to do with touring as such and no longer a club.
My hope is that, if the re-branding is rubber stamped, my local group will still retain its identity.
Essential to what future?

I believe that happened in 1878.
