I'm out.

Post by Gearoidmuar »

I joined the famous CTC years ago and have been a member until now. I'm an Irish member and have thrice done the CTC Lejog with Chris Levison.
Why would anyone change the name of the Club?
I've been a serious cycletourist having done some 85 bike tours in my time. The finest cycling there is from the enjoyment pov is touring.

If the name is changed back I'll rejoin.
If it ain't broke don't fix it. If it's really famous and ain't broke don't think of fixing it.

I empathise.

I regard myself as a touring cyclist. That's why I cycle, so CTC was a good fit for me.

CTC had a niche, and I felt the forum was full of like minded people. I think Cycling UK is too broad. In an Internet and social media age I'm not sure what it's USP is or what it offers me that I can't get elsewhere.

I used to work for a household name company who were advised "get big, get niche or get out"

Ctc were niche. Not sure what they are now
