What else did they eat? Do you mean, a few of them did NOT have porridge? :?

Porridge is of course XX% water, maybe 80%+ as I make it

Water!! We always make it with milk, there’s was made with milk too.

In addition they had eggs (in various forms), muffins and just about every breakfast offering one can think of.

Milk!!!!!
I do not believe it!
(hoping for a bit of controversy)

I often have yoghurt or rice pudding with with my water-porridge in winter, now in summer my body tells me to add salt

I usually make it in the evening in the microwave and heat it up in the morning. What happens if one leaves milky porridge overnight in hot weather?

I do love porridge in summer, it slips down so easily
I add salt in summer, feels right, tastes good
But I do not make it 24h beforehand in summer, I am scared it could go mouldy, one would not see white mould on porridge
Fresh porridge tastes just as good

I had porridge for breakfast yesterday, Norwegian style, with cinnamon, sugar and butter :9
It was a good way to start the day.

Whoever invented that stuff ought to have his feet dry set in two buckets of it, and thrown off the nearest bridge

I love ready brek on tour or at home, made cold with nido milk and maybe with dried fruit, quick easy and tasty. plus I can make it hot if I want it that way.

I've preferred it cold since I was about 8 with a sprinkle of sugar though tend to buy the cheaper supermarket clones now. Its only porridge with the lumps sieved out. which is probably what goes into the savers oats my missus makes flapjack with

I go through phases with porridge itself. with a dash of evap or cream though or home made damson jam.

I can still remember the taste of readybrek, and grapenuts (no grapes or nuts), allbran (all?), golden nuggets, the milkbar in the middle of Wales..

There are porridge-like products in the store, upgraded with milk powder, sugar, palm oil "ready in two minutes". Just like real porridge. Only the price per kilo is a multiple of the price of oats

No
One could add milk to it but I do not add that to porridge either

Come to think of it, p & ls are very different
Porridge is just oats, water, salt
Ls is lots of ingredients, lentils, oats, water, potatoes, carrots, leek, onion, feta cheese. No extra salt

Having lentil soup at the wrong end of the day, for breakfast, had no ill effects

doesn't the honey make it taste funny though? or do you have jam with it.

sweet polenta/cornmeal porridge is a nice change. common in the west indies and madagascar.

I'm surprised I've not mentioned this before, so perhaps I have.
oats: a grain, which in England is generally given to horses, but in Scotland supports the people.
