Just in case your wondering ... its not a Haiku.

Meridian

Actually I haven't tried it for a while as my local shop only stocks Whole Earth Crunchy Organic, which has a little palm oil and salt in it. I can't vouch for the solidity of Meridian's offering, but I don't remember there being a problem.

Buy it at a health food store. A couple of places in London, I've heard they actually have a little machines where you can watch them put peanuts in, and out comes peanut butter, looking like soft serve ice cream. Apparently they have settings for crunchy & smooth, too.

p.s. Holland & Barratt usually carry Meridien peanut butter.

p.p.s. Whole Earth foods do an all natural peanut butter.

p.p.p.s. I think Biona might do a 'just peanuts' peanut butter, too.

So do Sainsbury's.

I'm a trendy consumer. Just look at my SM-G930F using hovercraft full of eels.

We were buying Whole Earth for years, until we discovered Meridian.

I has nothing in it other then peanuts.

We buy it at Morrisons.

Meridian also do Almond Butter and Cashew Nut Butter.

Also Brazil nut and Macadamia butters, which are a bit expensive (Brazil is good, haven't tried the Macadamia).

Asda stocks the Meridian nut butters.

Hi,
I have just used my last pot of standard peanut butter :(
I decided not to buy another.
20% of my fat content was coming from the low fat marge on my toast
Peanut butter what ever you package it in is 50% fat.
Havent had any spread on my toast / bread for three years.

I will not buy anything with low fat on it. Low fat means, IMO, that some human somewhere has messed about with it. I'm not convinced that fat is bad for you. Surely Peanut Butter is a natural fat that the body is quite happy to utilise? That is unless some human has tipped a load of sugar into it.

That is a good principle. I imagine it would be quite easy to buy peanuts and process them oneself

It is generally better to buy food that has not been so heavily processed and treated. Oat flakes for example instead of muesli, flour to make pancakes or bread

Small additional benefit: it is cheaper

How can peanut butter be made from nothing but peanuts. If it were it would not be peanut butter but peanuts.

Squishing them. It's what makes them peanut butter instead of peanuts.

That's higher in salt and sugar than Tescos Everyday Value PNB, and over four times the price.

I eat PNB in industrial quantities, and my diet is still low in salt, fat and sugar. If you want to eat a healthy diet the way to go about it is to find out where all your fat is coming from first, rather than just cutting out foodstuffs arbitrarily.

Hi,
We decided on low fat marge spread which is still 36 % fat.
I was trying to lose weight so I cut out -

Marge
Peanut Butter
Ice Cream
Chocolate
Cakes
Sweets after meals
Cream.
Any meal with more than 10 grams of fat.

I use butter in bread making only.

Lost 14.5 kgs.
I have stabilised my weight by still eating the stuff I excluded in list (except marge) but in moderation.

Fat is required in diet for texture.
Its also twice the calories per gram of protein.

If I am cycling for more than 3 hrs it would mean 12 hrs / 24 hrs or a weekend / 3 days of pain camping off road I will eat anything I can find in a café / bakers and still come home 1 kg lighter, but as soon as I am home I go back on a sensible intake of calories.
