depending on you're surroundings the most civilized solution is actually either wiping it on the cloth part of your gloves or the "snot rocket". if you opt for the former however you'd do well to remember which hand is for your nose and which is for wiping dead flies away from your eyes and mouth.

i've been a heavy smoker and as a non-smoker i'd have to say it's nowhere near as disgusting as cycling.

Helms cartoons have a series of solutions including the addition of a tap attached to the nose....

I find the elasticated towelling cuffs that tennis players use to mop their brow useful.
They are easily washable after your ride....
or you could just throw them into the crowd. :o

Running nose is usually caused by inadequate eye protection - the tear ducts feed into the nose. I tried a Casco helmet one winter. It was great for the eyes/nose, but I couldn't use it with a helmet cover, and once spring rolled around and I lost the balaclava I realized that without something thick in between there were two nasty pressure-points on my forehead: the thing was designed for the brachycephalic and I'm t'other. Back to the snot rockets.

A high percentage of which have recently exploded on the launching pad. :(

FWIW, how about your eyes?
A while ago had a problem with runny nose and wet eyes all the time when waking up. Turns out really bad that I can't see properly for a few minutes.
A good checkover confirms damage to the cornea so the eyes have massive irritation due to incorrect contact lenses, hence the runny nose.

Got therapy, followed it, reduced the use of contact lenses, now the nose is not dripping as before.
It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best,
since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them.
Thus you remember them as they actually are...

Hi,
Yes, eyes if they get exposure to wind this can make nose run a lot, I always wear protection, not for the eyes so much but the diesel fumes.

Funny thing happened the other day, I was eating a banana whilst riding, at the wrong moment as I had to climb a hill with the half eaten banana in my teeth (the skin) when getting to the top my nose was running (not usual for me) so breathing thru nose had this effect.
