I had this from trying to up my walking considerably and having a bad pair of shoes. Took me out of commission for a year.

I would like to suggest Crocs. They were superb. The only problem was sweat, which meant I ended up with terrible athlete's foot. Then, the advice everyone else has given you; lots of ice on the heel, and stretching excercises.

My current boots are made by William Lennon & Co. Beautifully made, very strong, and very rigid. If you need a more built up heel they can make one with an extra piece of leather in the heel.
