An interesting thread, I'll be on the lookout for Groats. My recipe is a bit different.
I put two large scoops of Flahavans porridge oats into a bowl, cover with Oat milk and leave overnight. Next morning thinly slice half a banana into the Porridge, set for three minutes in the Microwave and head upstairs for shower and shave.
By the time I come back downstairs the porridge has cooled down, a swift stir and back in the microwave for a further two minutes.
The microwaving has the effect of breaking down the banana and it infuses into the porridge to make a delicious and filling start to the day.
On one occasion I noticed that half a jug of custard had been left in the fridge so I chucked some of that in to the mix. that really did taste good though I've yet to substitute the Oat milk and use 100% Devon Custard as the base

I miss all my gramps, all splendid people...
can't remember them ever making porridge but one of my Grandmothers used to make a gastronomical stupendous rice pudding;
baked to perfection, creamy, buttery, yummy!

I use maybe 50 g a day
I try to offer as many choices as possible, not just porridge yes or no?

I hate porridge but love porage,and pin-head oatmeal mixed with a hint of honey,or apple and cinnamon or brandy.

Some lads don't know what real porridge is like. They got that Ready Brek, which is just old wallpaper paste with out of date sugar chucked in it. Those lads should attempt the porridge that has some aggregate in it.
But perhaps they have the right porridge oat but have no idea how to cook it up? For a start, it should never see water. Milk is the stuff - almond or coconut milk if the cow juice is disallowed.

The beet has an earthy taste that can cloy the pallet, if the beet is particularly redolent of that tang. The golden beet rarely exhibits the earthy so perhaps you could attempt a munch on one of those?
Sometimes the context of the foodstuff makes a difference between like or not. I imagine the porridge haters will probably not baulk at a flapjack that's 80% oats, because of the sugar and the consistency (sticky-sweet). My own distaste is for offal, particularly kidneys and liver. I can't eat either "as they are" without an involuntary gag. However, I can quaff any amount of liver pate, especially if it contains exotic additions and comes on a delicious toast with butter.
So perhaps you could try a beetroot smoothie? The ladywife makes them for herself and I occasionally have some. Alas, the deep red beet seems even more earthy when liquefied. On the other hand, add a significant dollop of tropical fruit juice and some nutmeg and the liquid becomes quite morish.

I have never liked beetroot. I can just about eat the stuff pickled, or smothered in something strong flavoured like vinegar, but I will avoid doing so, if possible.

A long time ago i made demijohn of beetroot wine - from the vintage of 1984 [ a good year for beetroot ]
Spiced with a little ginger, it fermented very well, finished very dry going by the reading on the hydrometer.
After a post 3 month taste i wasn't quite sure, gave most of it away but left one bottle to mature for a few years....
Then in 1989 i uncorked it and shared with friends, we all enjoyed the refined earthy spicy kick, and the getting tipsy
Spiced with a little ginger, it fermented very well, finished very dry going by the reading on the hydrometer.
After a post 3 month taste i wasn't quite sure, gave most of it away but left one bottle to mature for a few years....
Then in 1989 i uncorked it and shared with friends, we all enjoyed the refined earthy spicy kick, and the getting tipsy

Used to hate porridge until the day I put curry powder in it and now I love it!
