I'm just speculating about the Daily Hate's spin on this one . . . . .
How about . . .

Perhaps being active rather than sedentary would have made you less likely to become a snack for a large carnivore?

Today's Daily Telegraph has a report of a report presented to a conference in New Orleans organised by the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons which revealed that a recent increase in sports injuries to the neck, especially among cyclists, means they have overtaken car crashes and diving accidents as the main cause. (This article does not seem to be in the online edition)
The Daily Telegraph's headline and opening para:
Risk of neck fracture rises for 'men in lycra.'
"MAMILS" - middle-aged men in Lycra - are fuelling a dramatic rise in sports-related neck fractures ....
followed by a reference to the growth in popularity of cycling here since British Olympic and TdeF wins.

But for how many years? And just how far is long distance?
Convention? what's that then?

Except of course that the dinosaurs were extinct long before man made an appearance on this planet.

Hopefully, . . . .
. . . . will be a small dis-benefit compared with the huge general health benefit to those that travel by bike.

The researchers believe that being physically active in old age will help people respond better to vaccines, and so be better protected against infections such as flu.
I would have thought that this group would be the last one queuing up at the doctor's for vaccines of any sort - and they certainly don't need a flu jab.
Another thought: why has cycling been singled out?

Sorry to be pedantic and drift the thread but birds evolved from dinosaurs and there isn't a single feature that separates the two groups so you could say that birds are dinosaurs. So the well worn maxim that all the dinosaurs became extinct at the end of the Cretaceous is not quite right.
