Crank length help

Post by chriskurton »

Owing to ongoing knee problems I am after some advice regarding crank length
I am not tall 5'2" and have low gears . I also have a small bike, however the cranks are 170mm.

Currently I ride with XT Deore front - 40 -30 -22 and rear 42-11, 11 speeds.

I believe that I should be riding a 160mm crank length.

Has any one any advice as to how I could replicate this with a 160mm crank and if so where can I get this. Ideally I would not want to change the mechs both XT currently (expensive), although I am happy to go down from 11 speeds, but keeping the same bottom, stump-puller gear.

Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

Talk to Spa Cycles.https://www.spacycles.co.uk/m2b0s109p20 ... chainrings

Oh, just realised you want 11 speed. Anyone know if this will work with 11 speed?

this fits the size, cheap enough to try it.

The OP should also buy a suitable bottom bracket at the same time; even if the current cranks are square taper like the recommended shorter ones, the alignment may well be out because they are different brands. The Suntour cranks + bottom bracket are only £35 which seems well worth a punt. They will also need a BB tool and an 8mm Allen key - friends or community bike workshops can help.
