Gout on a bike
Re: Gout on a bike
Allopurinol is a cheap and safe drug but needs to be taken lifelong as a preventative, so I think is why GPs aren't in a rush to prescribe. I coped for many years by treating flare ups with nsaid, but it progressed to a point where I needed to go on preventative. Avoiding dehydration is the most important thing. And it is a strongly inherited condition. My father had it and I got my first attack at 35.
