Ice pack alternative

Postby peetee » 25 May 2019, 11:30pm

I have always had an issue using ice packs on injuries as I find them too cold to bear for more than a minute or so.
I have come up with an alternative: rice. Put a loose plastic bag full of 1kg dried, uncooked rice in the freezer. It's not as cold on the wound but stays a useable temperature for at least 1/2 hour and can be shaped around the affected area without slumping to the bottom of the bag so it provides even relief.
Current status report:
Latter side of fifty and feeling less than nifty.
Too many bikes on pegs and too few miles in the legs.

Gel based Aloe Vera. I've used it in everything from cuts to hard knocks off the tarmac. Works a treat.
