most trainers are meant to

a) accept derailleur geared wheels
b) hubs at least 126mm OLN width
c) wheels 26-28" diameter.

Any single issue could be overcome but the Brompton fails on all three.

So I reckon you have three easy options

1) buy an exercise bike
2) buy a BSO with at least one working gear in the transmission and use that on a turbo trainer
3) try using the brompton on rollers.

Regarding the last of these, it is probably the easiest for you but I still don't fancy it much.

cheers

Kurtkinetics offer a small wheels adaptor for their trainers that is compatible with Brompton wheels: https://www.kurtkinetic.com/small-wheel-adapters

Or - as Brucey said - use a roller like these https://www.elite-it.com/en/products/ho ... rs/rollers. Many model should fit.

Freezing outside. Minds wander to home exercise bikes. Park it next to a TV. Better still if you can generate wattage to run the TV. This might be good but difficult to set up in practice. You will get bored. Consider doing what runners do. Layer I use 5 layers. Write me of as a wimp but I do wake at 3pm for a eight mile run and it can be 1-2 degrees outside. Also the first 15mins s/b gentle to get the circulation and heart rate up. Also bear in mind cycle clothing is designed to be waterproof.
You have a Brompton? great choice. You will find them helpful if you email them for advice.

thanks

1. indoor cycling is to aid lower back issues during winter not to power up the tv ! - i get it's tricky but some useful youtube vids show the technique...
2. The kinetic adaptor is quite bulky and pricey route to go - so i'm wondering about Rollers as a 1st option
3. Rollers: Given they dont advertise specs for the less common 16" wheels - do you think the adjustable ones would work anyway ?
Referring to both:
https://www.elite-it.com/en/products/ho ... rs/rollers
and
https://www.evanscycles.com/training-en ... ainer_type
Of all those this one seems like it might do it :
https://www.elite-it.com/en/products/ho ... ick-motion
https://www.elite-it.com/uploads/produc ... _2019_.pdf
ALSO
what if i just brough 2 of these ?

Seems to me the 2 key distances are those between the paired back rollers and the adjustable range of the device. Am i missing out on something or is this right ? If so, can anyone offer a confirmation that any of these may well fit brommie dimensions ?

thanks s
