They also determined that the human was dark skinned. Early humans in northern Europe were likely to be dark complexion like Mediterranean peoples or darker.

If dark skin inhibits vitamin D production in comparison to lighter skin would it not show in the bones of skeletons from that period? By all accounts the skeletons from there were of healthy individuals.

It's a great question.

His skin colour is disputed. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cheddar_Man

I don't know how much is known about his health. You'd certainly be able to detect frank rickets. In theory you could measure bone mineralisation but I don't know if it's been done.

The argument about the development of pale skin doesn't depend on dark skinned individuals having explicit diseases, only lower reproductive success in the long run. And that difference wouldn't have to be large.

A logical view to skin becoming more pale in northern countries would surely be a long term change. Does this kind of selection process not take a long time to happen? Would it be possible to detect the change in process?

Also, aiui the thinking now is a migration back into Africa and out again. Would there be light skinned further south that hadn't undergone selection back to darker skin?

Yes, a very long time.

I'm not aware of that for most Europeans. Have you got a source, please?

Sorry I can't remember the source. It's something to do with using genetic testing / markers but I don't recall the details. Iirc there's evidence that we're part of a second out of Africa migration. There's been so much reports of genetics based research into human migrations. Some claim ghost species of early human ancestors others are in our species times when migration, differentiation then migration back into Africa.

I really should start saving interesting links but short of a proper database I'm unlikely to find specific links from the masses of links I see that are interesting.

Thanks.

There's genetic evidence of some return from Europe to Africa, eg https://www.nature.com/articles/srep25501. But I don't know the scale.

I'm well stocked up on vitamin D3, C, K2 and zinc as well as various forms of magnesium. Need to give my immune system the best chance possible of fighting off the seasonal horrible bacterias and viruses.

I get regular blood checks for all sorts of things. My liver function is just on the verge of not good. My latest batch of bloods showed a deficiency of vitaminD so I am now on a 90 day course of colecalciferol( vit D3) 3200u. Does not mean much to me but it is apparently the highest off the shelf available. Unless there are problems I mostly just do as I am told tho’ I stopped methotrexate which was not really needed since my rheumatic condition has if anything improved slightly.

Vitamin D3, K2 and magnesium work synergistically with each other so should be taken together to esure the body does not suffer a depletion, and that calcium goes to the bones and not dumped in the arteries which can have serious consequences. Most GP's appear ignorant of this which is shocking.

I'm a chemical pathologist and I'm ignorant of that as well.

Please could you give us a source with the evidence?

Thanks

It's not easy to come across links that don't have a vested interest in selling their own supplements.

I am not a scientist or a Doctor what I type is my opinion of the evidence that I came across which is not always conclusive, anyway here are some links:

Clearly taking medical advice is paramount. But check out the YouTube videos by Dr John Campbell who has posted a lot of information on Vit D recently.
