I was given eyedrops containing beta blockers and found I couldn't get above 130bpm on the bike instead of around 170bpm previously. When I went to the eye clinic I told them about it and they changed to a different type of
drops - non betea blocker which solved my problem. Beta blockers are used to reduce heart rate of course so I would imagine you are experiencing the same. Beta blockers can also be problematic and there are various different types which can be prescribed, so I suggest you talk to your doctor. There may be one that suits you better but I think you will need to keep your cycling to an easy pace - for now anyway. Good luck.
