Can't remember exactly what's in out tubs right now but it will be Tilda or Asda own brand brown rice. Not sure if they are easy cook. Do they do easy cook versions? I can assure you the amount we cook (130g) is ready in 20 mins using the microwave. I buy it in bulk when I'm in a supermarket that sells it. Brown rice not available in Aldi or Lidl [emoji20]

We eat 2 minute micro wave rice packs from Aldi.
Go on, tell me how bad it is.
But it is nice with a curry . . .

Another healthy option worth trying is bulgur wheat (spellings vary: "bulgar", "bulghur", "burghul" etc). High in fibre and low GI, and it's another thing that is very easy to prepare. Most supermarkets will have it. Fine bulgur is prepared just like couscous; medium or coarse takes a little longer. A must-have for tabbouleh, but can be served as an accompaniment to many other dishes.

Also difficult to find in France - when we go across we usually take some with us. I don't think I've seen it in LeClerc, Intermarché, SuperU or Casino. Not sure about Carrefour and Auchan.

There are other shortfalls we've come up against. It's puzzling how it is that France, which boasts one of the world's best cuisines, makes it difficult for one to cook in any genre which is neither French nor Maghrebi.

I only do white long grain and Basmati (white as well) rice. Brown rice, pasta and bread gives me hiccups
Honestly chaps, I'm a female!

I shop in Aldi and Lidl but as you say they don't do brown rice, but I find either Basmati or plain brown rice out of Asda is just fine. I use about 1 1/2 times as much water as rice, cooked over a low heat with the lid on the pan, and either cooks in about 20-25 minutes - about as long as it takes to cook the curry or whatever that goes with it. It's good stuff.
