Lowering gears
Re: Lowering gears
That's great to hear. Mine is a band-on front mech and I was told by my LBS that that would be a problem, sadly. So I have now decided to sell my lovely Cannondale to someone who wants compact gearing and I have bought a 'tourer' which has a 20" low gear.....should be low enough!!

Re: Lowering gears
"Brifter" is a concoction of "brake & shifter" that some people use.
Just as an addition to other people above input:-
I have a 10 speed 105 long arm rear mech' working perfectly with a 11/34 SLX cassette.
On the front is an 8 speed 105 FD working on a Deore 10 speed triple 26/36/46 chainset.
Both operated from 10 speed 105 STI.

You'll never know if you don't try it.
