Could be a Lezyne Micro Drive, 70 lumen in pulse mode.

I am not sure whether strobe means simple flashing or more complex (and illegal patterns):

the law only allows for simple fixed frequency and mark space ratio flashing from both optional and 'approved' flashing lamps.

I am unsure about the legality of pulsing lamps (if they have no completely off period they presumably do not legally count as flashing but do they legally count as steady if permanently pulsing? I would wonder).

Update: Was cycling up the Gwynant (best climb in Snowdonia?) today when a rider passed me with a rear pulsing light which looked like the one I saw a few weeks ago. Unfortunately I was unable to get onto his carbon fibre hardly any spoked back wheel and he was gone. The further he climbed the more impressive his lamp became, especially as the cloud was coming down - which turned into a golf ball sized hailstorm from behind. Approaching the regrettably off season closed Pen Y Gwryd Hotel I decided to take shelter behind its clump of trees. Lo and behold the other cyclist was there too :) And he was the same fellow who overtook me last month.

So the "awesome" rear pulsing light is an Exposure Blaze.

Shame it costs £80

Oh well :(

80 lumens
Is that not blinding? I can't see the need for anything so bright.

I think it would be way too bright at night - but in daylight it's 'friendly' (unlike the price)

I read , in dismay, about the "wonder lights" that cost more than my bike ... and often giggle ... "one born every minute" comes to mind ...

I see you have tracked down the light.

My initial thought was that it was one of these:-

I haven't got one, but know someone who does and it is BRIGHT! Apparently they are used by some who feel they need a really bright light for TTs down dual carriageways where it is difficult to feel safe.
This light is very noticeable from a long way away in daylight. Fits very neatly under the saddle, ideal for TT bikes, not ideal if you still need a saddle bag.
