Chainset Mesurement ?

Postby Mike777 » 5 Jan 2016, 9:28am

Hi all

I am after a Chainset: Sugino XD-2 48-38-28t to fit to my Reynolds 525 double butted frame

Slightly confused in what the first measurement ie 160mm relates to (see options below)

Would appreciate any help or advice

Regards

Mike

Yes, it's the length of the cranks (pedal arms) measured from the centre of bottom bracket to the centre of the pedal axle. 170mm is average for men, but your starting point should be your current chainset. Does it feel the right length? I am 6'1" and theoretically I am better with 172.5 or 175mm, but I'm sure I would be fine with 170mm. My wife is 5'4" and finds 160mm fine.
