New bike and long ago converted to Brooks, which I find so comfy: I've been on 5hour rides in total comfort and shorter rides I don't need padded shorts. The B17 narrow doesn't suit but the standard is great for me. But the price of Brooks has soared and they are heavy saddles which is a shame when I've bought a lighter bike. what alternatives are others using?
I'm looking at this
Selle San Marco Vintage Regal Titanium Saddle. It seems to be a suede covering over padding rather than suspended leather. It looks like some pros are using them.
Any other suggestions

Re: brooks alternative
Other than the Regal and the various Brooks, I'd say the other classics are the Concor, Rolls, Contour, Turbo and Unicanitor. Maybe the Flite. The Concor has had various versions over the years, so take care if you go for that.
I'm currently using a BrevM Sellino which is reportedly a similar shape to the Concor, but modern materials.

Re: brooks alternative
don't spa do a range of brooks-esque saddles at realistic prices? maybe worth a squint.

whilst i use a flite titanium on all my bikes the lack of weight isn't a concern for me. i'd choose comfort over a long period of time before anything else with a saddle.

Re: brooks alternative
spa wharfe is very similar to a brooks swift, apart from better quality and lower price.

Indeed they do. There's been a similar leather saddle discussion over on another site and a review at http://www.cyclechat.net/threads/spa-ni ... le.145150/ was mentioned as comparing them to Brooks.

Re: brooks alternative
I spent 10 happy years on my Brooks Pro with many Audax rides and an SR.
When I got my Trek Domane I put my Brooks on and the weight seemed to make the bike top heavy and looked so very wrong. I now ride a Fizik Antares carbon braided rails. The saddle and its top, under the bum, feels just the same as a leather saddle to me. Nearly a quarter of the weight it's a bonus.
