1990's peugeot jockey wheels

Postby xtdrew » 1 Sep 2016, 6:17pm

Hi, first post here. I am trying to salvage a Peugeot Performance 1000 (probably late 1990's). My last problem with it is that the rear derailleur jockey wheels and bushes are in bits. Can anyone suggest replacement jockey wheels or, failing that, a replacement derailleur? The jockey wheels are 10t, the cassette is 6 speed and the downtube shifters are Shimano 105. I can find no identification on the derailleur other than "made in France".

it might be a simplex or Huret derailleur. These mechs sometimes have 5.5 or 6mm bolts through the pulleys where the standard for others is 5mm. IIRC some versions of the TACX aftermarket pulleys contain adapter bushings that allow these pulleys to be fitted to odd-size pulley bolts.

If you want a good ID on the mech, post a photo of it.

cheers

Thanks Brucey
I have the derailleur partially dismantled to look at the wheels - hopefully these photos will help.
also hopefully these photos will appear at the correct size - I've never posted photos before :)

I don't recognise that mech!

I'm wondering if it is a later sachs-huret one?

Got it! Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. It's a Sachs AR Traxx.
Does anyone know if the jockey wheels and bushes are still available anywhere?

Any set of jockey wheels of the correct diameter, thickness and bolt hole will fit. Take the old ones into your LBS and ask them to supply replacements.

problem solved - I couldn't resist a new (old stock) original derailleur.
I will also rebuild the old one, eventually. :)

I think you have done well there; I've never even seen that model of rear mech in the flesh!
