I need to get and fit brake cables to older weinmann non aero levers, do the sram/shimano ends on new, lowest cost brake cables, fit ok?

The outer cable just rests inside. No crimping.

Non comprendo. I wonder if we are at 'cross purposes' ?

I was intending to buy something like this;

http://www.wiggle.co.uk/lifeline-essent ... am-road-1/

and push it up thru the lever and into the cable housing, then I wondered if it was wearing the correct 'nobbly bit' on the end of the cable that would sit nicely in the lever?

yes the standard 'pear' cable nipple will work just fine. Do look out for the ferrules though; the original ferrules may well be old, brittle plastic; best to fit new ones I reckon.

cheers

Yes. The part I linked to is the part that is frequently lost when the levers/cables are removed. Hence it made sense that somebody might ask about a supply. As Brucey says, originals are often plastic which could well be brittle and benefit from replacing with the parts I pointed to.
