which cable (ends) for older non aero levers
which cable (ends) for older non aero levers
I need to get and fit brake cables to older weinmann non aero levers, do the sram/shimano ends on new, lowest cost brake cables, fit ok?
Re: which cable (ends) for older non aero levers
thanks,i was imagining buying lengths of cable with the ends already on, do those crimp on?
Re: which cable (ends) for older non aero levers
The outer cable just rests inside. No crimping.

Non comprendo. I wonder if we are at 'cross purposes' ?
I was intending to buy something like this;

and push it up thru the lever and into the cable housing, then I wondered if it was wearing the correct 'nobbly bit' on the end of the cable that would sit nicely in the lever?

Re: which cable (ends) for older non aero levers
yes the standard 'pear' cable nipple will work just fine. Do look out for the ferrules though; the original ferrules may well be old, brittle plastic; best to fit new ones I reckon.

Yes. The part I linked to is the part that is frequently lost when the levers/cables are removed. Hence it made sense that somebody might ask about a supply. As Brucey says, originals are often plastic which could well be brittle and benefit from replacing with the parts I pointed to.nicmarsh wrote:Non comprendo. I wonder if we are at 'cross purposes' ??
